Happy Fairy Tale Day! So Many Books on Sale...

Today, February 26th, is National Fairy Tale Day!  I'm so excited!  I'm learning about so many new books to read--and a lot of them are on sale!

First, there's a National Fairy Tale Day Party with lots of giveaways over on Facebook!  It starts tonight at about 9 PM Eastern Standard Time (7 PM Central).  Find it here or just search for it

Second, I've been collecting news of fairy tale sales this week!  Most of these are on sale for 99 cents for the next few days.

Kathryn McConaughy

An Ancient Near Eastern fairy tale!  Historical fiction with a hint of fantasy.

Taliyah bat Shammai is fleeing a terrible crime.  Though she has no hope of shelter, she must keep running—for the Avenger will be coming.  Even losing herself in the mist-haunted hills cannot protect her for long.  But perhaps other criminals can…
Yotam bin Yerubba’la has left his home, his only guide a cryptic dream.  Endangered by a perilous secret, he soon finds himself among men with secrets of their own—in a place where trusting others may be his most serious mistake… or his best defense.
Cypress and his band have been mercenaries for a long time.  Criminals all, they don't trust easily and never reveal their hearts.  But when a battle goes horribly wrong, each man must decide whether he fights for gold, for fame, or for something yet more rare…
Disguised as a boy, Taliyah finds the outlaw life to be full of more questions than answers.  What are those strange tracks around the ruined houses?  Why is Yotam so calm in the face of battle?  Where are the rest of Cypress' men? And who is the Avenger?
There may not be much time for Taliyah to find the answers, for war is about to ignite in the hills.  And they all will burn…

Alison Tebo
The Reluctant Godfather

Burndee is a young and cantankerous fairy godfather, who would rather bake cakes than help humans. A disgrace to the fairy order, Burndee has only two wards entrusted to his care…a cinder girl and a charming prince.

A royal ball presents Burndee with the brilliant solution of how to make his wards happy with the least amount of effort. He’ll arrange a meeting and hope the two fall in love.

A retelling of Cinderella.
Content rating: PG for some use of magic and mild romance.

A Royal Masquerade

Burndee can barely tolerate the mischievous Prince Colin, but the two of them are invariably thrown together in a way that keeps them at one another’s throats.
While attending a noblewoman’s wedding, Burndee and Colin’s feud comes to a climax and Burndee does the unthinkable. Bound by an inconvenient spell, can the two of them work together long enough to unsnarl the mysterious goings-on around them?

A retelling of The Goose Girl.
PG for mild action and violence. Some use of magic and mild romance.

A retelling of Rapunzel in a fantasy version of Japan!  We've got ninjas, ronin, yokai, and all that good stuff, plus a sweet romance!  I really love this story.  Highly recommended!

Humor and romance at the Faraway Castle resort!  My personal favorites are The Rose and the Briar (a fractured Sleeping Beauty) and The Lady and the Wish (King Thrushbeard).  Cinder Ellie and Ellie and the Prince are a Cinderella story, while The Little Siren and the The Siren and the Scholar are about the Little Mermaid.  The Lady and the Wish is one that I've re-read several times--highly recommended, and you can read it even if you haven't read the earlier books in the series.

An archaeology student, an Ice Age princess, and an undead sorceress...
Talia was meant to be her clan's greatest leader. But when her parents fail to invite a powerful—and very dangerous—sorceress to her birth party, the clan's long-desired blessing becomes their final curse. As Talia comes of age, the power of the sorceress finds her, and she is lost in a blizzard.
Millennia later, archaeology student Owen is on the field trip of his life to a glacier dig. But what begins as a routine dig soon becomes much more when he discovers a perfectly preserved mummy in the ice—a mummy that returns to life and drags him into a millennia-old dispute.
